Abstract
255,481. Krupp Grusonwerk Akt.- Ges., F. July 17, 1925, [Convention date]. Squirting. - Relates to extrusion presses for metal, haing a press 2 and a die 6 arranged loosely within the container 1 so that, during extrusion, the surface metal of the ingot passes outside the die in the form of a thin tubular shell 8 and consists in providing means for automatically clamping the end 7 of the ingot to the abutment 3 so that when this is withdrawn from the container or vice versa, after extrusion, the shell 8 is extracted from the container. For this purpose a dovetail rib or groove 9, 10, tapered transversely, may be farmed in the press head 3, Figs. 5 and 6. When the shell 8 is extracted the rod 5, Fig. 4, and die 6 are also withdrawn from the die support 4 and both shell and rod may be cut off by a saw 12.
