Spray, pulverulent fuel, and gas burners. - A liquid - fuel atomizing - burner 1 and an annular slit burner 10, 11 which is is supplied with either gas or finely divided solid fuels carried in suspension by air or gas are arranged with their discharge orifices between an air register 2 and the furnace wall 5. The two burners may be used either separately or simultaneously. The fuel is discharged from the burner orifices in conical jets which intersect when the burners are used simultaneously. The barrel of the burners is supported in a bearing 19 in the air register fitting 15 and its rear end is fitted to the annular fuel supply member 18 by a yoke coupling 16, 17, which allows it to be easily withdrawn when not in use. A diffuser 3 is fitted at its discharge end. The gas burner consists of two cast or pressed metal parts 10, 11 having their bearing faces spaced apart by shims or gaskets so as to leave a discharge slit or orifice 14 of the required width.
