DETAILED DESCRIPTION OF THE PREFERRED
EMBODIMENT
Referring to Fig. 1, Fig. 2 and Fig. 3, a bed according to the present invention includes a bed frame 1, and wheels ii directly connected to the bottom of the bed frame 1. The bed does not have feet. The distance between the bed frame 1 and the ground is equal to the height of the wheel 11 so as to fonii a low bed. Moreover, an adjustable back section 2 is pivotally connected to the bed frame I and a lifting member 3 is arranged between the back section 2 and the bed frame I. The lifting member 3 includes a telescopic power source 31 that can he a hydraulic cylinder, a pneumatic cylinder or an electric cylinder. One end of the telescopic power source 31 is pivotally connected to the bed frame 1. As shown in Fig. 3, an end part of an output shaft 311 of the telescopic power source 31 is pivotally connected to a connection portion 321 of a rotating shaft 32 while two ends of the rotating shaft 32 are connected to the bed frame 1. Moreover, two support rods 322 are formed on the rotating shaft 32. A guide wheel 323 is disposed on each of the two support rods 322 while a guide track 21 is arranged at the back section 2 and corresponding to the support rod 322. The guide wheel 323 on the support rod 322 is against and mounted in the guide track 21. Also refer to Fig. 6, a side plate 22 is connected to one side of the guide track 21 and disposed perpendicularly to the guide track 21. A stopping plate 23 in parallel to the guide track 21 is arranged at the side plate 22.
Furthermore, a first gap 221 is formed on a lower end of the side plate 22 under the stopping plate 23, and a second gap 222 is formed on an upper end of the side plate 22 above the stopping plate 23. A buffer pad 4 is mounted at the bed frame I, allowing the back section 2 to contact therewith.
Thereby the care worker can turn on the telescopic power source 31 to move the hack section 2 when the elderly, people with mobility impairments or seriously ill patients need to sit for convenience of feeding food or giving drugs, as shown in Fig. 4, Fig. 5 and Fig. 6. Now the output shaft 311 of the telescopic power source 31 is moved forward to push the pivotally connected rotating shaft 32. Thus the rotating shaft 32 rotates a certain angle clockwise. While the rotating shaft 32 is rotating, the connected two support rods 322 are driven to move and the guide wheel 323 on each of the support rod 322 is slid downward along the guide track 21 at the back section 2. Thus the back section 2 is supported by the two support rods 322 and is raised to a certain angle.
When the back section 2 is raised to about 70 degrees, the guide wheel 323 is moved to a certain position of the guide track 21 arranged with the stopping plate 23 and stopped by the stopping plate 23. Thus the hack section 2 is pulled and held by the telescopic power source 3 I to ensure the optimal, safe and comfortable position of the back section 2.
After the hack section 2 is raised to a certain angle, the back of the patient lying on the back section 2 is also raised so as to allow the patient to sit up. Thus care workers can attend to the patient's needs such as drug, food, etc. Then the care worker activates the telescopic power source 31 to turn back to the original position after the patients eating the food or taking the medicines. Now the output shaft 311 of the telescopic power source 31 is moved backward to drive the connected rotating shaft 32 rotating an angle in opposite direction. At the same time, each support rod 322 on the rotating shaft 32 is also moved in opposite direction, moved upward along the guide track 2] at the back section 2 by the guide wheel 323 thereon. Thus the two support rods 322 supports the back section 2 and allows the back section 2 to turn back to the original position smoothly. When the hack section 2 is decreased to the position that the angle between the hack section 2 and the ground is about 30 degrees, the guide wheel 323 is not restricted by the stopping plate 23.
When the back section 2 is decreased and the guide wheel 323 is moved along the guide track 21 to the second gap 222 of the side plate 22, it can prevent the users from being hurt accidentally when there is a foreign object under the back section by the second gap 222.
After the hack section 2 being turned back to the original position, the back section 2 is in contact with the buffer pad 4 on the bed frame 1.
The buffer pad 4 is used to reduce vibration and noises caused by the decreased hack section 2 directly humped into the bed frame I -For patients with weak body and mind, they can feel comfortable and safe physically and emotionally during frequent routine treatment such as feeding food, taking medication, etc due to the smooth movement of the back section 2 without vibration and noises. This is helpful in the recovery from diseases.
Tn addition, the bed frame I is only a hit higher than the floor due to the design of the low bed. When the elderly, people with mobility impairments or seriously ill patients lying on the bed frame 1 want to turn over or change positions, they will not get hurt seriously even falling from the bed to the floor carelessly. In order to achieve such design, the lifting member 3 should have a simple structure and compact design. Due to the simple structure formed by the telescopic power source 31, the rotating shaft 32, the support rod 322 and the guide wheel 323, the lifting member 3 has a compact volume. This matches the requirement of the low bed design of the present invention.
The buffer pad 4 can also be set on the back section 2 so as to be in contact with the bed frame I. Thus the vibration and noises generated between the bed frame I and the hack section 2 during decreasing of the
S
back section 2 are reduced.
Tn summary, the present invention has following advantages: 1. In the adjustable back section of the electric bed according to the present invention, the wheels are directly connected to the bottom of the bed frame and there are no feet on the bottom of the bed frame. Thus the distance between the bed frame and the ground is equal to the height of the wheel and quite small so as to form a low bed. By the design of the low bed, the elderly, people with mobility impairments and seriously ill patients will not get hurt while falling from the bed to the floor accidentally and the safety of the patients lying on the bed is ensured.
2. In the adjustable back section of the electric bed, the side plate is connected to one side of the guide track and a second gap is formed on an upper end of the side plate. When the back section is decreased and the guide wheel is moved along the guide track to the second gap of the side plate, it can prevent the users from being hurt accidentally when there is a foreign object under the back section by the second gap.
3. Besides the side plate connected to one side of the guide track, the adjustable back section of the electric bed further includes a stopping plate disposed in parallel to the guide track and connected to the side plate. When the back section is raised to the highest position, the guide wheel is moved to the certain position of the guide track arranged with the stopping plate. Thus the guide wheel is stopped by the stopping plate and held by the telescopic power source. Therefore the back section is located at the raised position to make the user feel safe and comfortable.
Additional advantages and modifications will readily occur to those skilled in the art. Therefore, the invention in its broader aspects is not limited to the specific details, and representative devices shown and described herein. Accordingly, various modifications may be made without departing from the spirit or scope of the general inventive concept as defined hy the appended claims and their equivalents. I ()
