Abstract

Self-filling reservoir and stylograph pens; feed-bars. - The self-filling sac 4 in a reservoir pen is provided with a thickened mouth 4a to form an airtight joint with the interior wall of the barrel. The thickening may be integral with the sac, or in the form of a rubber or like ring secured in position. The barrel and point-section may be integral and the sac inserted from the rear end, a removable plug 5 being provided for this purpose. The sac may be compressed by a lever-operated device or by sliding the nib-covering cap 7 on to the rear end of the barrel, the air-vent 8 in the cap being covered by the finger, and the plug 5 being provided with an aperture 6. The upper end of the feed-bar 2 is inclined to facilitate the flow of ink. In a modification, the end of the feed-bar is inserted into the mouth of the sac, and the surface duct communicates with the interior of the sac by way of longitudinal and transverse passages in the feed-bar. When used in a stylographic pen, a perforated tube is inserted in the mouth of the sac, and the needlecairier is mounted on the end of the tube.
