Couplings.-To prevent the kinking of submarine cables of the type which are provided with loading coils, a number of spherical bodies b of decreasing diameter are strung on the cable where it leaves the coil casing. The body next to the casing is preferably of greater diameter than the casing. The openings e through the balls are flared at the ends and may he lined with a protective layer of rubber &c. The balls may be connected together by chains.
