Abstract

250,576. I. G. Farbenindustrie Akt.- Ges., (Assignees of Akt.-Ges, f³r Anilin- Fabrilzation). April 9, 1925, [Convention date]. Addition to 249,160. Triarylmethane dyes.-In a modification of the invention described in the parent Specification, a tetra-alkyl-4 : 4<1>-diaminobenzophenone is condensed with di-1-napthylethylenediamine, in the proportion of either one or two molecules of the former to one molecule of the latter. The products dye wool and cotton mordanted with tannin a clear blue-violet, and may be converted into acid wool dyes by sulphonation at a low temperature. In an example, tetramethyl-4: 4<1>-diaminobenzophenone (2 molecules) is condensed with di- 1-naphthylethylenediamine, in the presence of toluene, by means of phosphorus oxychloride. The tetraethyl compound may also be used.
