Abstract

146,050. Stirling Boiler Co., and Mackay, H. J. S. Dec. 31, 1919. Water-tube boilers.-In a water-tube boiler of the Stirling type fired from both sides or both ends, each drum A is provided with a water-tight feed box G extending over a portion only of the length of the drum and embracing a part of the bank of tubes H. The bank H is connected to a section of the mud-drum D separated from the remainder by an imperforate partition I so that the water flows both downward and upward within the bank H. A baffle K is interposed between the bank of tubes H and the bank L associated with the same steam and mud drums. In a modification, separate combustion-chambers are provided and the feed is supplied to a single central drum. Specification 130,468, which describes a similar arrangement applied to a boiler fired from one end, is referred to.
