Abstract

249,685. O'Donnell, E. D. April 14, 1925. Turntables.-Relates to the carriage of freight in wheeled containers which are transferred from one vehicle to another without unloading their contents. A transfer or terminal station is provided with a turntable and with dock berths for railway and road vehicles having ramp rails on which the containers, or transferable vehicledecks supporting the containers, run and are lifted from the vehicles to the level of rails on the dock. The Figures show a 'dock with two railway berths A and six road-vehicle berths 103 arranged radially about a turntable 104. The berths and the turntable are provided with rails 117, 118, 119 of standard gauge so that the containers can be transferred from one vehicle to another
