Abstract
248,516. Tyler, J. W. Dec. 29, 1924. Machines with two or more armatures; armatures and field magnets, dampers and short circuited screens on cores of; armatures and field magnets, ventilating; windings; cores, yokes, and carcass structures. - A continuouscurrent generator comprises a two-part armature constructed of toothed rings 18 and core-plates 17 and two or more separate windings and separate commutators on each part. Air chambers 26 are formed between the rings 18 and core-plates, spacers 30, Fig. 3, being provided to permit circulating air currents. Damping windings 29 mounted on bobbins 27 are located in the air chambers. An H-casting 14 between the armatures has a fan 13 mounted upon it, and T-castings 15 are secured at each end of the machine. The field magnets on one part are staggered with respect to those on the other part. A portion of each winding on one part can be connected to any commutator on the same part.
