Abstract
A display unit for presenting a 3D Television, which may take the form of a lenticular display 1, to viewers is described. The unit has a programmable digital processing device 4 to display and hold the information for the television. The unit compromises presentation means for presenting a viewer with 3D images on their walk path. The display unit may take the form of a freestanding unit 3 and may be transparent.
Description
Description
3D Television Display Unit
Background of the invention:
The present invention relates to a poster lightbox display for targeted advertisements.
This is where a poster ad is placed into a display unit connected to a power cable which can be lit up for better viewing. They are predominantly located in public spaces where they have an audience to display too.
A 3D television requires viewers to watch it from various directions in order to gain a maximum impact. Televisions are limited to certain spaces in which they can be suitably placed and where there are no visual obstructions. The disadvantages of being limited to walls, brackets or towards the side of a walkways holds back the freedom needed to gain the maximum 3D effectiveness. A suitable distance is required between the viewer and television which is defined by the viewers own discretion for the 3D effect to achieve its purpose. There are numerous disadvantages which a 3D television can face. This can range from a retail stores view, where the use of wall space is needed for shelving and mirrors etc. or a shopping mall where retail units line the sides and there space in the centre which can be optimised.
People would gain a better experience if they are approaching the Lenticular television head on as this will assist the images to become more enhanced as well as making the 3D image become more realised than if it was on the side, which could be mistaken for a regular television.
Description of the Invention:
It is among the objects of quintessence of the present invention to mitigate or eliminate the above disadvantages or other disadvantages associated with the lenticular television.
Subsequently by encompassing a transparent or semi transparent unit that has the capabilities of holding the 3D television(s) and a programmable digital processing device it can be placed freely in a given space (2), (4). A lenticular television does not require a viewer to have any optical assistance for the 3D effect. A display unit of any size or shape (5) with a transparent window for the image display can be secured to an existing structure or become freestanding (3), (9). This will allow the unit to be placed in the centre of a walkway or away from any walls. By doing this the 3D effect would be enhanced as it faces the direction in which people would approach it (8). Using a freestanding display unit enhances the viewers experience and makes the lenticular display more effective.
The invention will effectively combine a lenticular television and a programmable digital processing device within a display unit to enhance the desired effect of the television.
This will allow for the television(s) to be placed in more suitable locations for the enhancement. This is accomplished by the display unit being secured or freestanding with all components integrated creating a visually pleasing site with the improvement of the 3D effect.
Brief description of drawings:
These and other aspects of the present invention will be seen by way of example by the accompanying drawings.

Claims (6)
- Claims 1. A 3D television and a programmable digital processing device housed inside a display unit.
- 2. A 3D television according to claim 1, wherein the television can produce stereoscopic effects with a lenticular display (1). This removes the need of optical assistance for the 3D effect to take place for the viewer.
- 3. A programmable digital processing device according to claim I, wherein information can be stored and passed to the television within the unit (4).
- 4. A display unit according to claim 1, wherein it can free the television from walls, brackets and structures while passing information to the television with a programmable digital processing device.
- 5. A display unit according to claim 1 or 4, wherein the unit would be transparent or semi-transparent (2). It will be freestanding or secured (3), (9), and be of any shape or size (5) that has the capability of supporting a television(s) and a programmable digital processing device.
- 6. A method of enhancing the visual effect of a 3D television by presenting it in a display unit that is also capable of supporting the needs of the television.
