Abstract
A speed reduction alarm device generates a signal in response to the released extent of an accelerator pedal of a vehicle so that the brake lights 3 of the vehicle and signal to anyone following that the vehicle may be engine braking (see fig 5). The speed reduction alarm device may be attached to the accelerator pedal 6 and comprises a casing, enclosing an encoder 2, transmission means 52, a control circuit board 4 and a sensor 3 comprising a rotary member 31 moving about an axel. The encoder can controls the speed and duration of the blinking of a brake light. The transmission means may be wireless, such as an infra red link (41 fig 6).
Description
TITLE: SPEED REDUCTION ALARM DEVICE
(a) Technical Field of the Invention
The present invention relates generally to an alarm device, and particularly to a speed reduction alarm device.
(b) Description of the Prior Art
The operation of an automobile brake light is that when a first car moving in a high way encounters an event, the driver of the first car moves his or her foot from an acceleration pedal to depress a brake pedal to actuate the car brake, whereby the first car is decelerated and the brake light turns on. The driver of a second, following car notices the lighting of the brake light of the first car and take necessary action to maintain a safety distance from the first car. However, when the driver of the first car just moves his or her foot away from the acceleration pedal, the first car is in a condition where no acceleration is made and the car speed is gradually reduced due to external resistance. At this moment, the brake light of the first car is still not on and the driver of the second car may not find that the speed of the first car is being reduced until an action of decelerating the first car is actually taken by the first driver.
Consequently, when the first car then takes an emergent stop by depressing the brake pedal, the second car might have already got too close to the first car.
Thus, even the second driver observes and responds to the brake light of the first car turns on to depress the its own brake pedal, since the distance between the two cars may not be sufficient for the second car to completely stop before it hits the first car. This is especially true for vehicles moving in high speeds, where incorrect judgment of related factors may easily occur, leading to untimely response of the second driver and eventually causing traffic accidents and casualty and property loss.
SUMMARY OF THE INVENTION
An objective of the present invention is to provide a speed reduction alarm device, which is installed in a car and functions to notify the driver of a following car of the current condition of speed being reduced for this car and provides safety and practical effect of pre-alarming and preventing car collision.
To achieve the above objective, in accordance with the present invention, a speed reduction alarm device is provided for generating a signal in response to the released extent of an acceleration pedal of a car to effect issuance of an alarm of speed reduction. The speed reduction alarm device comprises: a casing forming an interior space in which an encoder, a sensor, and a control circuit board are received; the sensor comprising a rotary member that is rotatable to cause an angular displacement of an axle; and the control circuit board on which an encoder and a signal transmission terminal, the sensor detecting the angular displacement of the axle caused by the rotation of the rotary member to generate a signal, the signal being encoded by the encoder to provide an encoded signal that is transmitted through the signal transmission terminal to an alarm.
As compared to the existing techniques, the speed reduction alarm device of the present invention can inform a following car that the present car is in a condition of speed being reduced so as to provide safety and practical effects of pre-alarming and preventing car collision.
The foregoing objective and summai provide only a brief introduction to the present invention. To fuily appreciate these and other objects of the present invention as well as the invention itse1f, all of which will become apparent to those skilled in the art, the following detailed description of the invention and the claims should be read in conjunction with the accompanying drawings. Throughout the specification and drawings identical reference numerals refer to identical or similar parts.
Many other advantages and features of the present invention will become manifest to those versed in the art upon making reference to the detailed description and the accompanying sheets of drawings in which a preferred structural embodiment incorporating the principles of the present invention is shown by way of illustrative example.

DETAILED DESCRIPTION OF THE PREFERRED EMBODIMENTS
The following descriptions are exemplaxy embodiments only, and are not intended to limit the scope, applicability or configuration of the invention in any way. Rather, the following description provides a convenient illustration for implementing exemplary embodiments of the invention. Various changes to the described embodiments may be made in the function and arrangement of the elements described without departing from the scope of the invention as set forth in the appended claims.
With reference to the drawings and in particular to FIG 1, which illustrates a perspective view of a speed reduction alarm device constructed in accordance with the present inventions generally designated at 100, the speed reduction alarm device 100 comprises a casing 1 and transmission terminals 52 of signal transmission lines.
Also referring to FIG 2, which illustrates a cross-sectional view of the speed reduction alarm device in accordance with the present invention, the speed reduction alarm device 100 is mounted to an underside of an acceleration pedal 6 of an automobile, and the device is comprised of the casing 1 and an encoder 2, a sensor 3, and a control circuit 4 that are received in an interior space formed in the casing 1. The sensor 3 functions to generate signals corresponding to angular positions of a rotary member 31 and the signals so generated are subjected to encoding performed by the encoder 2 that is mounted on the control circuit board 4. The encoded signals are transniitted through the transmission terminals 52 of the signal transmission lines that are connected to the control circuit board 4 to control the operation of the speed reduction alarm device 100.
Referring to FIGS. 3 and 4, which illustrate the operation of the speed reduction alarm device in accordance with the present invention, when the acceleration pedal 6 is depressed to effect acceleration of the automobile, a rotary member 31 of the sensor 3 swings frontward and causes an angular displacement of an axle of the sensor 3. The encoder 2 thus operates to control the control circuit board 4 to generate a signal, which is then transmitted by the signal transmission line terminals 52 to cause no action.
On the other hand, when the acceleration pedal 6 is released and moves upward to cause slight reduction of speed, the rotary member 31 swings backward and causes a corresponding angular displacement of the axle, making the encoder 2 operating to control the control circuit board 4 to generate another signal, which is then transmitted through the signal transmission line terminals 52 to cause blinking of a brake light of the automobile (wherein the encoder 2 controls and adjusts the speed and duration of blinking and also alerts the operation performed in response to the signal).
Referring to FIGS. 5 and 6, which illustrate an application of the speed reduction alarm device in accordance with the present invention, when a first car 7 contains a computer device 9 installed therein and the circuit board of the speed reduction alarm device 100 is provided with infrared detection device 41 to replace the signal transmission line terminals 52 for performing wireless transmission, which can be for example Bluetooth transmission or infrared light transmission. When the driver of the first car 7 moves his or her foot that steps on the acceleration pedal 6 away from the acceleration pedal, the first car 7 is in a condition where no acceleration is made and the speed is thus gradually reduced. At this time, the speed reduction alarm device 100 generates a signal to notify the computer device 9 and the computer device 9 makes the brake light blinking to signal the driver of a second, following car 8 that the first car is in a condition of speed reducing, whereby an effect of alarm is thus realized and the driver of the second car is provided with a relative long period of time to respond and depress the brake pedal.
While certain novel features of this invention have been shown and described and are pointed out in the annexed claim, it is not intended to be limited to the details above, since it will be understood that various omissions, modifications, substitutions and changes in the forms and details of the device illustrated and in its operation can be made by those skilled in the art without departing in any way from the spirit of the present invention.
