Abstract
A tree shaking device for imparting vibration to the trunk of a tree comprises a first pair of tree engaging elements8each having a contact portion10suitable for gripping a tree trunk, a mounting on which tree engaging elements8are mounted and an oscillating drive means5, 6, 7connected to the mounting, the oscillating means being adapted to cause oscillatory movement of the mounting and to cause the contact portions10of the tree engaging elements8to describe and arcuate path during oscillation. The oscillating drive may comprise a crank-disk connected to the mounting. The crank disk may be adapted for connection to a power take off (PTO) shaft of a vehicle. The tree shaking device may have means for collecting the fallen produce from the tree.
Description
Fully Automatic Fruit Shaking Machine
Invention Description
Technical Field
This invention is a type of fully automatic fruit shaking machine which can be used in fruit harvesting.
Relevant Prior Art
Three countries (United States, Italy and Spain) already have this technology. The Italian model can be fitted onto the front of a tractor and is equipped with a truck loading and hydraulic system. The vibrating mechanism of this system is direct and three pairs of rubber rings are used to cover the tree stem and prevent the fruits from falling on the ground.
Assessment of Prior Art
Because of the importance of their oil system, the previous models can only be fitted onto tractors which have 120 horsepower and more. Also the previous models do not have a protection system preventing damage to the trees and have a 2-percent fruit wastage. This system has three pairs of rubber rings and also direct vibration.
Disclosure
This invention is a type of fully automatic fruit shaking machine in which a pendulum vibration is caused by a fan belt circling an axle resulting in energy striking the tree from different directions causing light and gentle vibrations. To reduce the wastage caused by falling fruit, rubber is used between the opening pipe and vibrating spring.
The aim of this invention is the production of a fruit shaker at a far cheaper price than the existing models, its ability to be fitted onto all types of tractors and the prevention of damage to the tree's roots. This device is positioned at the lowest part of the tree trunk where gentle vibrations are administered to the tree. It acquires its power from the PTO shaft and the tractor's hydraulics.
This device is fitted onto the back of a tractor in such a way that the trunk fits into the V of the device and at a distance of 60 cm from the tree; the tree sits between two shafts, two other shafts fixed to the ground holds the tree stationary. These two mentioned shafts act as the protection system. After about 4 -6 seconds, according to the type of tree a gentle vibration will be administered to the trunk, at the same time an umbrella will spread around the tree. Using gentle vibrations the fruit will fall into the umbrella and stored in a special container. After the storage capacity is complete, it will be hydraulically emptied.
Advantageous Effects 1. Prevents damage to the tree's roots by using pendulum vibrations.
2. The swift topple and collection of fruit along with fewer vibrations administered to the trunk by using a pendulum system and the protection system of the device.
3. As light alloy has been used in this device, it is light weight and reduces pressure on the hydraulic system.
4. This fruit shaker is lightweight and can be fitted on to all three and four-cylinder, light or heavy tractors.
5. Utilising three pairs of rubber rings, the device fits snugly around the trunk so minimum fruit falls from the machine.
6. This shaker is fitted on a lower level of the tractor so it doesn't block driver's vision, The images prepared on the device gives the driver a chance to easily position the tree.
7. Utilising a pendulum vibrating system, one can produce movable parts with less wear and tear, thereby guaranteeing the lifespan of the parts.
8. By using the oil pressure valve, the umbrella's opening speed is controlled.
Explanation about the Figures: Figure (1) shows the formation and mechanics of the fruit shaker.
Figure (2) shows the complete form of the fruit shaking machine, consisting of the umbrella (1) inclining surface (2) and metal storage container (3) Describing at least one function of the invention referring to the figures This fully automatic fruit shaker works as shown in figure (1) Figure (1): the tractor's energy enters through the PTO Shaft (1) and is transferred to the coupling (2) from there it enters the gearbox (3) then after the shaft altering the energy to the suitable frequency, it is transferred to the fly wheel (5) and from there with the suitable vibration speed, it enters the connecting rod (6) where it is transferred to the fan disk (7). The fan disk changes the to-and-fro motion to pendulum motion. Energy is then transferred to the tree trunk through the arms (8).
Hydraulic jacks (9) extend and close the arms. Situated at the tips of the arms is a suitable flexible rubber (10) which is in contact with the tree trunk. The fan disk circles the axle or support(11) arid the arms in turn circle the axle (12). The function of the gearbox (13) is to open and close the umbrella where the hydraulic jacks (19) transfer energy to an almond-shaped lever (14), causing the umbrella pole(15) to spin. A hydraulic jack (16) is responsible for the opening arid closing of the machine's fruit storage doors (17). This device is fitted to a tractor at certain parts (18) the oil pressure valve (20) controls the oil pressure and is adjustable. The arms at the bottom of the device (22) is to stabilize the lower part of the trunk and the device itself is stabilized to the ground by other arms (22) which act like a protection system and in the figure are drawn with dotted lines. The whole device is erected on a frame. (21)
