Abstract

245,584. Dodd, H., Sprent, W. C., and United Alkali Co., Ltd. Dec. 29, 1924. Quinizarin is obtained by heating o-ehlorphenal or a mixture of o- and p-chlorphenol at temperatures above 200‹ C. with phthalic anhydride. and boric acid dissolved in sulphuric acid. The product is isolated by pouring the reaction mass into water.
