Abstract

245,408. Renault, L. Dec. 30, 1924, [Convention date]. Planes, construction of.-The upper and lower surfaces 1, 2 of thick planes are built up from a number of sheet metal members 13 fitting one within another and bolted or rivetted together as at 4. The members 13 may be shaped so that the plane tapers in width as shown in Fig. 7. The two faces of the members 13 may be made to approach each other towards the tip of the plane. Angle irons 5 are provided on some or all of the members 13 and are connected to girders formed by two angle irons 6 connected together by a trellis 7 and shaped so that the plane diminishes in depth towards the tip. Angle irons 8 are provided for connecting transverse girders 9. The members 13 are assembled with the end of a frame of the same shape as the girders 9.
