Abstract
244,696. Kammerliner, J. A. Dec. 26, 1924, [Convention date]. Bore - hole apparatus. - A fishing jar for use in rotary well drilling &c. and adapted for water circulation comprises a chamber 7 with an anvil 13 and an inner member 14 with a hammer 12, parts on opposite sides of the hammer being of the same diameter so that the free space in the chamber 7 is con. stant; the chamber 7 and member 14 have corresponding mutilated threads 10, 17 closed at one end by fillets 11, and the member 14 terminates in a-plunger 18 working in a chamber 9 and provided with cup leather packings 19. On engaging the mutilated threads a rotary drive may be communicated, or by applying tension to the drilling string containing the jar and then rotating the chamber 7 relative to the members 14, the threaded connection is freed and impact occurs between the parts 12, 13. such impact being utilized to free stuck drills &c. Specification 227,798 is referred to.
