Abstract
243,971. Piller, F. Dec. 12, 1924, [Convention date]. Contents, delivering; fittings, internal.-In a cigarette or like case in which the articles are fed forwards by spring pressure and retained at the delivery orifice of the case in opposition to the spring so that withdrawal can only be effected at right angles to the feeding direction; the articles a are arranged in a number of vertical rows and horizontal layers, and sheets g of paper &c. are arranged across the case between the layers so as to prevent the articles from being fed forwards by the spring e until each layer has been completely withdrawn. As shown, the cigarettes are retained by the upper bent ends of metal strips c which also guide the plate d against which the spring e bears and the cigarettes are withdrawn through gaps a<1> of the sides of the case when the cover f is rocked to one side or the other to expose one of the gaps. In a modification the cigarettes are embraced and retained by an inverted U- shaped strip, the legs of which are connected to the inside of the case and the lid is hinged to one side in the usual manner.
