Endless chain push-plate or scraper and trough conveyers and elevators; push-plates and scrapers, construction of; casings.-In a conveyer working in a casing, the side and transverse elements of the. chain are arranged in more than one plane, whereby material can be conveyed en masse in any direction and in any plane. The casing a, Fig. 4, has an inlet b and an outlet c and is of circular, square, &c. cross-section. It may be of -wood, iron, concrete, &c., and either may be a a rigid structure or composed of sections pivotally or telescopically jointed together. Alternatively it may be made of flexible material. The links e of the chain d each comprise circular rings r, h, Fig. 19, arranged in perpendicular planes. The rings h are connected together and extend along the axis of tho casing. The rings may be replaced by diamond-shaped members. The link e, Fig. 5, comprises side members h, a cross-bar i, and inclined arms j. The inclined arms j may be replaced by an arched member s, Fig. 22. The chain d, Fig. 9, is composed of parallel chains connected by side bars m. Each chain is com. posed of side members h and cross-bars i. Pin- and-slot connections between the links are provided in one chain to permit limited flexure of the compound chain.
