Spigot-and-socket joints held by caulking and the like. - A spigot-and-socket or like joint is sealed by means of a divided jacket c which abuts the edge of the socket members a and is provided with spacing-lugs e at the outer edge. The jacket is formed with radial lugs c<1> and is clamped on the spigot member by screws d, which engage therein. Packing is inserted between the jacket and joint to be sealed by means of a tamping-tool p.
