Abstract

Disc wheels.-In sheet metal wheels of the type formed in two parts joined together in the plane of the wheel or having naves in two parts similarly joined, the nave is strengthened by short metal tubes or rings b of different diameters arranged concentrically with the wheel axis and with each other, the rings b being connected together by radially arranged metal strips c which may be doubled as shown in Fig. 3. Some of the strips c may extend outwardly to engage within the inner ends of hollow spokes a, Fig. 1, and distance-pieces d of channel or other section, as shown in Fig. 4, may be fitted between adjacent tubes or rings.
