Abstract

A plant root protection device comprises a disc with a cut-out A allowing it to fit around the plant at soil level. The device has a raised lip B which helps to channel moisture to the root of the plant. In use the device would afford protection to the roots of climbing plants against excessive heat and afford some protection against frost. It may also afford some protection against pests. The device provides the user with a permanent means of labelling the plant along the edge of the lip C.

Description

<p>PLANT SHADY PLATE</p>
<p>This invention relates to a plant root protector, which inc'udes an individual disc with strategically placed cut-out (A, Fig 1) to fit around the plant and space for labelling the plant.</p>
<p>Other materials are known, but do not have the advantage of portability and concentrated watering and pest control and differing size in accordance with specific requirements.</p>
<p>The purpose of this invention is to provide cheap protection to the roots of climbing plants. It will also help to channel moisture via a raised lip (B, Fig 1) to the roots of plants grown close to walls, and would also give some protection against excessive heat and afford some frost protection. It would afford some protection from pests. The shady plate additionally provides the gardener with a permanent means of labelling the plant along the edge of the lip (C, Fig 1).</p>
<p>Preferably the disc is made from terracotta, but may instead be made from plastic or similar.</p>
<p>A preferred embodiment of the invention will now be described with reference to the accompanying drawing in which: FIGURE 1 shows a top view of the whole plate; FIGURE 2 shows a side view of the whole plate.</p>
