Abstract

Actuating by weights.-In a petrol &e. delivering apparatus the pipe 15 b which the liquid is fed to the measuring chamber 2, is used for delivering the liquid from the chamber 2 to the flexible pipe 23 and is adjustable in height so that the position of its upper end in the measuring chamber determines the volume to be delivered. The adjustment is effected by a nut 33 which engages a screw on the pipe 15 and is rotated by a handwheel 2R. Packing glands 16, 34, are provided where the pipe enters the chamber and where it is entered by the supply pipe 14. A three way cock 22 is arranged to connect the pipe with the supply pipe 14. or the delivery hose 23 so that it can be turned b a key passed through a slot in the outer casing only when the pipe 15 is in its uppermost position. Before opening the delivery cook 24, the pipe 15 is set to the -required position indicated by a pointer 17. The pump for raising the liouid through the pipe 14 comprises an immersed cylinder having a valve 12 and a strainer 13 and a weighted piston 7 adapted to be raised bv a crank 37 through gearing 40 and a cord 43. The piston falls under the action of gravity. The overflow pipe 20 contains a transparent section 36.
