Abstract

241,501. Oxe, H., and Oxe, W. July 25, 1925. Lock mechanism, operated by non-rotating key; padlocks; keys.-In a lock of the kind wherein spring detents in a casing engaging shoulders on an inserted bolt and are released by insertion of a flat key, the detents are of unequal length and the bolt shoulders and key-bit stepped to correspond. The casing a, b has the plate c from which tongues i of unequal lengths are stamped, attached to it below a ward plate c<2> which necessitates a corrugated key. The bolt k has stepped shoulder k<4> in recesses g and is recessed to correspond to the ward plate. When the bolt is inserted into the casing until it is stopped by the pin e, the tongues i snap behind the shoulders k<4> preventing release until the stepped bit l of the key is inserted to depress the tongues. The shoulders k<4> form the stops to limit the insertion of the key. The key can fold into the handle l<1>. The casing and bolt may be attached to the ends of a chain.
