Abstract

241,381. Harris & Sheldon, Ltd., and McGregor, D. Oct. 15, 1924. Windows and the like, cleaning.-For preventing adhesion of rain or snow to the windscreen of a motor-car or other vehicle, a wind-screen wiper carried by the wind-screen is provided with a reservoir for liquid which is delivered through one or more passages to the surface of the screen. As shown two wiper-arms 1, 5 are carried by a pivot pin 4 adapted to turn in a hole in the glass of the screen. The pin is drilled axially and communicates in front with two delivery tubes 13, 14. The rear end of the pin is adapted for attachment to an elbow fitting 16 provided with a ball-valve 19 and adapted to receive a reservoir 15 for the liquid which will prevent adhesion of moisture to the screen. The reservoir is preferably provided with flexible sides which may be depressed to open the valve and supply liquid through the tubes 13, 14. If desired, only one feed tube may be supplied for the front surface of the glass. One or more tubes may lead to the rear surface. The invention is also applicable to wipers having a single wiper arm, to hand-operated wipers of the sliding type and to automatic wipers operated electrically or by suction.
