Abstract

410,259. Windscreen - cleaners. HEDLEY, F. H., 15, Portland Terrace, Newcastle-on-Tyne. Jan. 10, 1933, No. 833. [Class 138 (i).] A windscreen - wiper 19 is used in conjunction with a spray of water supplied intermittently to the screen through a pipe 18 leading to an opening 17 in the face of a disc 15 which is loosely mounted on the wiper [shaft 22. The disc is connected to oscillate with the wiper arm 20 and is pressed by a spring 24 against a member 10 which is fixed to the windscreen. The member 10 is provided with a passageway 12 leading to an opening 13 and connected by a pipe 14 to a source of water supply. The openings 13, 17 are adapted to register when the wiper is at one end of its stroke, whereupon a spray of water is delivered to the screen. The water supply carried by the vehicle is preferably under pressure. The shaft 22 may be driven as shown, by an electric motor 26, or by the engine of the vehicle.
