Abstract

A fence post stabiliser comprises a three part 'C' shaped bracket, which in use surrounds a fence post and is secured thereto by a screw clamp (A) on each of the bracket parts, a leg is removably secured to each of the bracket parts by attachment through an aperture (B) therein. Preferably spirit levels (C) are built into the bracket parts. Furthermore, the legs may be slidably adjustable in length and include a foot plate (X). In use the fence post stabiliser allows a post to be temporarily supported until concrete in which the post is to be permanently secured has set.

Description

2401 642 Fence Post Stabiliser My invention, the fence post stabilizer,
has a main body that can be clamped to either a wooden or concrete fence post. It has legs that are detachable. Once attached to the main body, they make the post free standing.
The fence post stabilizer, or FPS for short, eliminates the need for bits of brick and lengths of timber to keep a fence post upright. It also makes erecting concrete fence posts a one person job.
The FPS keeps a fence post upright, whilst the concrete sets. Because the main body of the FPS has built in spirit levels, it makes getting the post level, easier.
The FPS is 3 sided, 1 side can be removed, The FPS has 2 integral spirit levels. There are 3 screw clamps with which to attach it to a fence post. Also there are 3 ports in which the legs are clipped. The 3 legs are adjustable.
Preferably the FPS would be made out of plastic, and the legs made from a light strong tubular metal.
Referring to my drawings, I will describe the FPS in greater detail.
Drawing 1/2 Fig 1 shows an elevated view of the fence post stabilizer, without legs.
Drawing 1/2 Fig 2 shows a leg which is in 2 halves, to
make it adjustable.
Drawing 1/2 Fig 3 shows a side view of the FPS.
Drawing 2/2 Fig 4 shows another elevated view of the FPS, but it shows you in more detail how back plate D fits into place.
Drawing 1/2 Fig 1 shows that the main body comprises of A. Screw clamps of which there are 3 and these clamp the FPS to your post.
B. Leg ports of which there are 3. These house the legs which are detachable. There are 2 holes in each leg port, a hole either side to accommodate the ball catches at the top of each leg.
e. Are the 2 integral spirit levels.
D. Removable back plate. This can be removed so that a fence panel can be offered up to the post, but the fence post is still supported.
E. Retaining clips for the back plate, of which there are 2. These keep the back plate in place until you need to remove it.
Drawing 1/2 Fig 2 shows a leg of which there are 3.
All 3 legs are in 2 halves and can be adjusted, to alter their height.
W. Tapered lower leg. Each lower leg tapers to a point.
This makes it easier to push into soil, or bite into harder surfaces, such as tarmac.
X. Foot plate. Each lower leg has a foot plate. This makes pushing the leg into the surface even easier and reduces the need for-a person to bend.
y. Adjustable points. There are several of these running up the bottom half of the upper legs, 1 each side. They house the ball catches Z. Making the legs height adjustable.
Basically all they are, are holes.
Z. Ball catch. 2 of these are located at the top of each lower leg, 1 each side. The lower leg slides into the upper leg and when you achieve the desired height, slot the ball catches Z into the Adjustable points Y. on the upper leg. There are also 2 Z ball catches on each upper leg and these slot into B the leg ports.
Drawing 2/2 Fig 4 shows in more detail how the back plate fits into place.
D. Removable back plate. This slides up and out leaving just the 2 side pieces in place. When your concrete has almost set, you can remove the back plate and offer up a fence panel. But the fence post remains supported.
E. Retaining clips hold D. the back plate in place until you want to remove it.

Claims (6)

1. A fence post stabilizer has 3 sides 1 of which could be made so that it is removable there are 3 or more clamps these are used to attach it to a post.
2. The fence post stabilizer as claimed in claim 1 has 2 built in spirit levels and 3 or more ports to house the legs which are detachable.
3. The Fence post stabiliser as claimed in claim 1 or claim 2 has detachable legs of which there can be 3 or more each legs height is adjustable.
4. The fence post stabiliser as in claims 1 claim 2 and 3 has 3 or more adjustable legs each leg is in 2 halves the lower half slides into the upper half and is held in place by a catch the lower half of the leg can have a foot plate which enables it to be pushed into the ground and to make this easier the lower leg tapers into a point.
5. The fence post stabilizer as claimed in any proceeding claim which is made from metal, plastic wood or from a combination of these materials.
6. The fence post stabilizer substantially as herein described and illustrated in the accompanying drawings.
