Abstract
A laser guided tyre deflation system comprises two or more permanently fixed rotating mountings (see fig 2), cylindrical in form and loaded with tyre deflating darts (fig 3). The system is used to deflate the tyres of vehicles during pursuit; the dart puncturing the tyre and causing it to slowly and safely deflate. The dart, made of impact breakable plastic, is fitted with a brightly coloured dye or powder so as to visually allow the operator to monitor the success of the aim. The rotating cylinder arrangement allows consecutive darts to be fired, aligning each one, in sequence, with the positioned laser guide (see fig 1). The system may be powered by compressed air and/or from vehicle battery and can be controlled by a hand-held electronic remote control unit.
