Description

Multidimensionally adjustable hinge for door leaves or window casements.
5 The invention relates to a multidimensionally adjustable hinge for door leaves or window casements with a frame hinge part which can be fastened to a frame profile member, with a leaf hinge part which can be pivotably mounted on the frame hinge part and with a receiving part lo for the leaf hinge part and which can be fastened to the leaf, wherein the leaf hinge part can be fastened in a laterally adjustable manner to the receiving part via slot-
type guides and wherein a strap of the leaf hinge part can be adjusted with respect to the receiving part for vertical 15 adjustment in the installation position by means of at least two set screws, which can be screwed into the strap to a greater or lesser extent, and at least one lock screw.
A hinge of this type is intended for heavy door leaves or window casements, especially for house doors. The so hung house door should be adjustable simply but durably with respect to a door frame.
Gebrauchsmuster specification DE 92 00 563 U1
discloses a hinge of the aforementioned type. In this known hinge, for vertical adjustment of the strap of the leaf 25 hinge part, at least two set screws bear against the receiving part which can be fastened to the leaf. The strap is fastened by means of four fastening screws to the receiving part. These fastening screws serve simultaneously for locking the set screws. The vertical adjustment in this 30 hinge is not simple, since the set screws have to be adjusted to the same extent so as to prevent canting of the strap. Furthermore, the four fastening screws also have to be tightened uniformly so as to be able to lock the set screws in such a way that the strap does not cant. Finally, 35 in this known hinge, in addition to the vertical adjustment, lateral adjustment is also possible on account of the slot-
type guides but, for this purpose, with loosened lock screws
the leaf itself evidently has to be manipulated into the correct position and retained in this position until the lock screws have been retightened. It is obvious that this type of lateral adjustment is laborious.
5 Gebrauchsmuster specification DE 298 17 807 U1
discloses a multidimensionally adjustable hinge which is similar to the aforementioned known hinge to the extent that a leaf hinge part can be fastened in a laterally adjustable manner to a receiving part via slottype guides. However, in 0 this known hinge the problem of lateral adjustability is solved more simply because an adjusting screw is provided which is mounted with its head in a slot of a bearing block of the receiving part and is in engagement with a threaded bore in one end face of the strap of the leaf hinge part.
15 Moreover, in this known hinge the danger of canting of the strap during the vertical adjustment in the installation position is indeed lower because only one set screw is provided, which is locked by means of only two clamping screws; however, in this known hinge during vertical 20 adjustment the strap cannot be adjusted parallel to the door leaf plane but only in a sort of pivoting procedure about the head of the adjusting screw mounted in a slot of a bearing block. In order to enable this pivoting to be carried out the set screw is a recirculating ball screw 25 whose head is mounted slidably and pivotably in a further slot of the receiving part. Owing to this design, the leaf hinge part in this known hinge is mounted in less rugged manner and the receiving part is of very expensive construction. 30 Offenlegungsschrift DE 198 42 769 Al discloses a hinge plate for the pivotable attachment of a door leaf to a door frame. The hinge plate has a retaining member on the door leaf side, which can be securely attached to the door leaf, and a leaf part on the articulation side, which is 35 adjustable in the horizontal direction of the door leaf plate but in the vertical direction of the door leaf plane
- 3 and in the direction of the thickness of the door leaf is securely fixed to the retaining member on the door leaf side or to the door leaf. For lateral adjustment, i.e. for adjustment in the horizontal direction of the door leaf 5 plane, one arm of the hinge plate on the door leaf side is adjustable in the retaining part by simple rotation of an actuating screw. In other variants of the known hinge plate a plurality of actuating screws are provided for this purpose. In the variant with one actuating screw, the known lo hinge plate can in fact be simply adjusted; however, owing to its design it can only be laterally adjusted, which limits its application possibilities. In the variant with a plurality of actuating screws there possibility of simple adjustment is no longer present because the actuating screws 15 have to be uniformly actuated in order to prevent canting of the arm of the hinge plate on the door leaf side. Finally, in this case too, both the retaining part and the receiving part in the above-mentioned known hinge are of expensive construction. so It is the object of the invention to simplify and improve the construction and adjustment possibilities in a hinge of the type indicated in the introduction.
According to the invention, this object is achieved in a hinge of the type indicated in the introduction in that
25 at least two slots are provided in the receiving part as slot-type guides, in that the set screws have heads which abut the rear side of the receiving part remote from the strap and in that a lock screw can be screwed into a further threaded bore provided between two threaded bores for the so set screws in the strap so as to bear on the front side of the receiving part facing the strap.
The hinge according to the invention is of very simple construction since, in addition to the conventional holes for the screws for fastening the receiving part to the 35 leaf, it merely has at least two slots. The strap of the leaf hinge part is also of very simple construction, since
- 4 it merely has at least three threaded bores. The hinge according to the invention can be vertically adjusted in a simple manner, since for this purpose only three screws need to be actuated accordingly. By means of at least two set 5 screws the desired vertical setting can be adjusted, which is then fixed by tightening the lock screw provided between the set screws.
The subject-matter of the sub-claims represent advantageous developments of the invention.
lo If in one development of the hinge according to the invention the further threaded bore is disposed centrally between the two threaded bores for the set screws in the strap, uniform fixing of the strap is ensured at the desired vertical setting without any canting.
15 Particularly reliable actuation and tightening of the set screws and lock screws is possible if, in another development of the hinge according to the invention, the set screws and lock screws are provided at their end adjacent the strap in the assembled condition with a respective So internal tool engagement portion.
Simple lateral adjustability of the hinge by corresponding actuation of the adjusting screw is also provided if, in yet another development of the hinge according to the invention, for lateral adjustability an 25 adjusting screw is mounted with its head in a slot of a bearing block of the receiving part and is in engagement with a threaded bore in an end face of the strap.
Examples of embodiment of the invention will be illustrated in more detail below with reference to the 30 drawing, wherein: Fig. 1 shows one example of an embodiment of a multi dimensionally adjustable hinge according to the invention, in an exploded view in perspective.
- 5 A two-dimensionally adjustable hinge generally denoted by the reference numeral 10 is illustrated in Fig. 1 without a frame and without a door leaf or window casement.
The hinge 10 comprises a frame hinge part, which can be 5 fastened to a frame profile member and which is generally denoted by the reference numeral 12, and a leaf hinge part which can be pivotably mounted on the frame hinge part 12 and which is generally denoted by the reference numeral 14.
The frame hinge part 12 has a retaining plate 20 to lo which a bush 22 of the hinge articulation is fastened. A mounting member 24 can be fastened by means of pins 26,28 and by means of two fastening screws (not shown) in a conventional manner to the frame profile member (not shown).
For this purpose, the pins 26,28 can be passed through bores 15 30,32 into a backing plate 34. The two fastening screws for fastening the mounting member 24 to the frame profile member (not shown) also serve to fasten the retaining plate 20 to the mounting member 24. A covering sleeve 36 can be slid over the bush 22 after assembly so as to conceal a clamping 20 or set screw 38.
A receiving part 40 can be fastened to the leaf (not shown) so as fasten the leaf hinge part 14 to the leaf. To fasten the receiving part 40 to the leaf there are used four fastening screws (not shown) which are inserted in holes 42.
25 As is customary, at least one pin 44 serves for location in the leaf. The receiving part 40 has two slots 46,48. Set screws 50 and 52 are inserted into the slots 46 and 48 respectively before the receiving part 40 is mounted on the leaf. The screws 50,52 each comprise a bolt which is so provided with an external thread and which, at one end, has a respective internal tool engagement portion 54 and 56 (in each case a hexagonal socket) and, at the other end, a respective head 58 and 60. The rear side of the receiving part 40 or the adjacent side of the leaf is sufficiently 35 recessed around the slots 46,48 so that the set screws 50, 52
can move freely in the slots in their longitudinal direction even when the receiving part 40 is mounted on the leaf.
The leaf hinge part 14 has a strap 62. At its right-
hand end the strap 62 has a bolt 64 of the hinge 5 articulation, which is inserted into the bush 22 and is then rotatable therein. Additionally, the strap 62 has two threaded bores 66,68 for the set screws 50 and 52 respectively. A further threaded bore 70 for a lock screw 72 is disposed centrally between the threaded bores 66,68. The lo lock screw 72 is a grub screw which at its front end has an internal tool engagement portion 73 which is also in the form of a hexagonal socket. Finally, the strap 62 incorporates a threaded bore 76 in its end face 74, into which an adjusting screw 78 can be screwed. The receiving 15 part 40 is provided at its left-hand end with a bearing block 80 for the head of the adjusting screw 78. The bearing block 80 has a continuous longitudinal slot 82 and a transverse slot 84. The transverse slot 84 accommodates the head of the screw 78 so that it can slide therein. The so longitudinal slot 82 accommodates the shank of the screw 78 so that it can slide therein. At its end opposite the bearing block 80 the receiving part 40 has an unhinging protection means 90 which, when the door is closed, engages in a complementary aperture in the frame profile member. The 25 leaf hinge part 14 is completed by a covering sleeve 86 for a part 92 of the strap 62 carrying the bolt 64 and by a covering cap 88 for the strap 62 and the receiving part 40.
The hinge 10 described above can be adjusted vertically and laterally as follows: so After the receiving part 40 has been fastened to the leaf, the screws 50,52 are screwed into the threaded bores 66 and 68 respectively from the rear side of the strap 62.
For vertical adjustment, the set screws 50,52 are screwed to a greater or lesser extent into the threaded bores 66 and 68 35 respectively and, subsequently, are locked by means of the lock screw 72 which in this case bears on the front side of
the receiving part 40 facing the strap 62. If lateral adjustment is additionally required, before tightening the lock screw 72 the adjusting screw 78 is actuated so as to move the receiving part suitably forwards or backwards in the slot-type guides.
