Drip, preventing; singleacting suction. valveless pumps; suction reservoirs; valves. arrangement of.- A lubricating pump comprises a grease reservoir 1 communicating with a coaxial pump barrel 7 from which a plunger 2 passing through the hand grip expels the grease through a valve 10 and rigid pipe 12 to the union 14. A cupleather piston 24, 25 in the vessel 1 engages the plunger 2 by me.aDs of balls 28 arranged in a cupped boss 23 and pressed down by a spring 29, so that during the descent of the plunger the piston is carried with it until it is stopped by the grease. The vessel 1 may be detached from the barrel 7 for refilling. The plunger enters the barrel 7 through a paclcing gland 6. The delivery valve 10 is held to its seat 9 by a spring 11, and is opened by the plunger engaging its stem which projects into the barrel. The pipe 12 is universally jointed to the barrel. In the Specification as open to inspection under Sect. 91 (3) (a) another form is described in which the vessel 1 is arranged laterally of the. barrel, and the valve 10 may be replaced by a differential piston valve. The friction connection between the plunger and piston 24, 25 may be effected by spring pressed dogs or wedges. The union 14 may comprise a chamber 30 containing a, perforated cup packing 14a and a perforated metal cap 14b pressed outwardly by a spring 14<c> and held in place by a threaded ring 14<d>. This subject-matter does not appear in the Specification as accepted.
