Abstract

Locking sliding latches; latches, slidi n g ; reversible latches.-A latch-bolt is provided with a second spring at the end of its shank in addition to the ordinary shooting spring, to enable the latch head to be pulled forward beyond the foreend plate and turned through 180‹ for use with doors of either hand. The latch-bolt shank b<1> has a shooting spring b<2> and a second stronger spring b<3> at the end, operating between the head at the end of the shank and a relatively fixed projection d'. In the form shown the projection d<1> is on a slider D by which the bolt is retracted by the follower E. The spring b<3> enables the latch-head B to be pulled forward into the position shown in dotted lines and reversed. The latch-bolt is blocked by a key-operated bolt F sliding on pins f<1>, f<2> and having a tumbler H pivoted on it at h<1> and co-operating with the pin f<2> by means of its gate h<2>.
