Abstract

A plant climber support comprises a plastic frame 9 fixed to steel tubes 8. The steel tubes are affixed to a plantpot using adjustable brackets 1 which fit over the rim of the pot. Extra frames may be added to the support using extension caps 5. Branch support clips attached to the frame may be used as extra support for the plant. The plant support may be attached to the plantpot by other means. These include holes in the rim of the pot designed to accept press fit plastic inserts (6) to receive the tubes and tube inserts moulded into the pot to receive the tubes (4). The steel tubes may also be supported by spigots in a plastic base (3) which is placed in the base of the pot below the soil/compost.

Plant Support The invention relates to a plant support and its relative accessories, and ofthe type which include any standard pot or purpose designed/manufactured pots, that are so designed for the purpose of fixing or adapting a frame to which the plant can be supported.

The obj ect of the invention is to provide a sturdy frame which is fixed to the plantpot via various methods and idea's all of which form part of this invention. ie, the description is Plantpot with

fixing point for steel tubes, after the steel tubes have been pressfit into inserts aplastic frame can be added. to steel tubes the plant grows upwards. agains the frame to which Branch clips can be added which will SUppOlt the plant to the frame as it grows, if the plant grows to a height of approx 6' or more. then with reference to my design more frames can be added. thus giving full support to the plant over its full height This invention overcomes using Canes, sticks, string etc. which are used. Or in use. but are not substantial.

Most of the accessories can be made from green plastic, the vertical tubes. to which the frame is mounted. would most probably be made from steel though could be made from plastic, whichever would be the most cost effective, for the manufacture.

Tube inserts, extension caps, Branch support clips, Frame, would most probably be plastic.

The adjustable brackets and vertical tubes would most probably be made from steel and coated in plastic. this again would be dependent upon the most cost effective for manufacture.

All the said items/accessories would be supplied in kit form with extra's such as branch clips, extension caps, plastic frames and adjustable brackets being sold separately as additions.

The problem that my invention overcomes is the unsteady support or methods that are currently available, My invention will support and hold in place a climbing plant, or any plant that is bushy or grows to height. throughout its height. therefore giving real strength form the base upwards.

Plant Support Fig 1 Shows the type of adjustable bracket which is designed and used to fit a different variety and sizes of plantpots. (steel tube attached) 1/3 Fig 2 Shows a purpose designed/manufactured Plantpot with holes in different positions, these holes are so designed, to accept a press fit plastic insert to which the vertical steel tube is inserted.

Fig 3. Shows a plastic base which is made of various diameters, the base is designed and incudes plastic spigots to which the vertical steel tubes are pressed onto, the base is then inserted into plantpot prior to the pot being filled with soil/compost.

Plant Support Fig 4 Shows a purpose designed/manufactured pot with integral steel tube inserts, the tube inserts form part of the integral design of the mould.

Fig 5 Shows plastic extension caps which are press fit onto the tops of vertical steel tubes, with this in place further steel tubes and frames can be added. therefore increasing the overhaul height of the support.

Fig 6 Shows a plastic tube insert these are press fit into the tops of purpose designed plantpots. Once in place the vertical steel tubes can be added or pushed into place.

Fig 7 Shows Branch support clips which will be of different lengths and sizes, the clips will be attached to branch and clipped to plastic frame for support.

Plant Suppolt Fig 8 Shows vertical steel tubes to which plastic frame can be fixed/attached.

Fig 9 Shows Plastic frame to which branch clips are attached, this frame offers the support as the plant climbs Fig 10 Shows standard type terracotta plantpot.

b Plant Support As shown on Page 1/3 the invention and fixing to the pot using adjustable brackets fig 1. if for any reason this type of fixing is not used then a different type of fixing of the steel tubes 8 can be made to a purpose designed/manufactured plantpot fig 2 which is fitted with plastic inserts Fig 6.

Another method for fixing of the steel tubes can be made by using Fig 3, whereby steel tubes can be pressed onto spigots. which form Part of Fig 3. Prior to inserting into plantpot and filling with soil.

Another method for fixing of the steel tubes can be made by using Fig 4 a purpose designed/manufactured pot complete with integral steel tube inserts as part of the design of the pot mould. once the type fixing has been established then all other items can be added to build and make complete the Plant Support.

Claims

1. A plant climber support, which is made up from various fittings and accessories, once assembled forms a framework. The plant as it grows will climb the framework that can be extended as the plant grows.

2. A plant climber support as claimed in 1 where the plastic frame slides over the steel tubes forming a plant climber and support which can be extended via extension clips and in addition a further plastic frame.

3. A plant climber support as claimed in 1 or claim 2 where the plastic frame is fixed to the plant pot via various fixings, accessories, and or purpose made and designed plantpots, The plantpot can have steel tube inserts as an integral part of the pot/mould. Branch clips are used and fixed both to the frame and the branch of the plant as it grows to aid support.

4. A plant climber support as claimed in 1, 2, or 3, where various methods can be used for fixing the steel tubes to the plant pot, including plastic base with spigots, these fit inside the steel tubes and can be positioned anywhere of preference on the plastic base, the plastic base with spigots, and steel tubes fitted, are positioned in the plant pot prior to filling with soil. Other methods for the fixing of steel tubes are by means of adjustable brackets that can be fixed to the pot internally or externally or via plastic inserts which are press fit into the plant pot. Adjustable brackets can be fitted to the plantpot via straight adjustable, horizontal tube fixed from one bracket to the other, or by plastic ring which mounts and secures the brackets and fits to the inside of the top flange of the plantpot and is securely fitted to the pot via spring tension.

5. A plant climber support and accessories in any proceeding claim which is made from metal, plastic material, or wood, or from a combination of these materials.

6. A plant climber support substantially as herein described or illustrated in the accompanying drawings.
