Abstract

A door intercom system comprises a property communication set (pcs) , door lock solenoid, door intercom and mobile phone. The pcs includes a changeover switch (fig.2) allowing users to select between "home" and "remote" modes. In "home" mode, users are able to converse with visitors at the door intercom via a speaker and microphone built into the pcs mounted in their home. When in "remote" mode, the pcs dials the telephone number of a mobile phone in response to a visitor activating the door intercom, thereby enabling the home owner to converse with the visitor remotely. The pcs is able to unlock the door to the property via a door lock solenoid and this may be controlled either via a door lock solenoid button on the pcs or, when in "remote" mode, via a key on the mobile phone's keypad, eg the "*" key. The telephone number of the mobile phone is pre-entered via a keypad and associated LCD display, both of which are built into the pcs.

This invention relates to a mobile phone controlled door intercom system.

Door intercom systems are nothing new, like wise mobile phones have been with us for a while. This invention differs in that combining these two devices the front door of a house can be opened by pressing a key on the mobile phone. If you do not want anybody to enter the house you can talk to the person in question and not let them in. if for example it was the cleaner you could then let them have access to your house.

The invention consists of four main parts 1. Door intercom unit. A standard unit that allows two way communications between the front door and the property communications set. By pressing the communications (p.c. s.) button (bell) this sends a signal to the p.c.s. and alerts the occupants to the presence of someone at the front door.

2. The house communications set. This device has two modes a) home and b) away. In the 'home mode' the device acts as a normal intercom, allowing the operator to talk to the visitor and by pressing the door' release button, it allows them to enter the house. When set in the 'away mode' the p.c.s. will automatically dial the homeowners mobile number or any number pre-programmed into the p.c.s. This will enable the home owner to talk to the visitor and by pressing the star (*) button activate the door lock solenoid (d. l.s.) and let the visitor in.

3. The mobile phone. A standard cellular phone either digital or analogue.

4. The door lock solenoid (d.l.s.) A standard device that is activated by the p.c.s. This enables the door to be automatically opened from a remote device.

Appendix For the purpose of this application certain terms have been used in a broader sense these term are as follows Home Owner property owner, resident, someone responsible for answeringthe intercom and allowing entry to the property where the device is tiffed.
