Abstract

238,686. Hayes, P. T. Aug. 1, 1924. Universal joints of the Hooke's type. A spherical or other central member 12 carries semi-circular projections 13, 14 of rectangular cross-section arranged at right angles, bearing strips of brass &c. being secured to the sides of the projection and engaging in semi-circular grooves 11 in sockets 9 keyed to the shaft ends. The projections and grooves may be interchanged. Oil may be supplied to the grooves 11 by holes 16, the outer surfaces of the projections 13, 14 being grooved to retain the oil.
