Padlocks; Dock mechanism, tumbler type; locks, cases for.-A padlock with a shackle which is pushed manually across an internal gap in the casing so that it shows only its end, is provided with a double-toothed pivoted tumblerwhich engages a recess in the shackle so that attempts to force the shackle outwards cause one of the teeth to bite more deeply into it. A protecting casing into which the padlock fits when applied may be secured to the door to prevent attacking the casing with tools. The shackle 1 can be pushed into the casing a to engage eyes 16, 17 on door and door-post, these eyes having been entered into the recess bordered by the cap 15. The tumbler 2, pivoted at 12, has teeth 4 and 14 which engages the recess 21. If an attempt to pull the shackle outwards is made, the tooth 4 bites more firmly on the shoulder 5. A casing 20 may be secured to the, door to receive the padlock and protect it against attacks by forcing bolts. The tumbler 2 has an extension provided with a lug 6 which, in the locking position of the tumbler, engages a notch 10 in a second tumbler 7 pivoted at 8. On inserting and turning the key, the tumbler 7 is pushed aside, freeing the notch 10 from the projection 6 and allowing the tumbler 2 to be lifted upwards by the key till the stud 6 reaches the top of the slot 13, so freeing the shackle.
