Abstract
Each panel comprises a framework 1-4 with a board ( 8 in fig. 3) on either side, the boarding includes wired electrical fittings and sockets 9 & 13, communication cabling and sockets 10, heating piping and sockets 12 on a panel basis. Each panel frame is adapted to engage with a preceding panel frame to form a rigid wall. The partition wall alleviates the time consuming need for fixtures to be fitted after the partition is built.

INTERNAL PARTITION PANEL WALLING The invention relates to internal partition panel walling of the type which comprise a composition of light gauge steel frame members with boarding including wired electrical fittings and sockets, communication cabling and sockets, heating piping and sockets on a panel basis.
Internal partition walling of the block work type is well known but suffers the disadvantage that they are messy, time consuming in their building and require electrical, communication and heating fixtures, wiring and cabling to be made once the partition is built. The necessary upheaval is such that the surrounding area is unusable for the duration of the work.
An object of this invention is to provide internal partition wall panels that are fixed to each other that allow easy erection with speed.
Accordingly, this invention provides a composite panel that comprises of a light gauge steel frame, building boards, electrical fixtures and wiring, communications cabling with sockets and heating sockets and piping. Each panel connects to the next to form the whole wall.
A specific embodiment of the invention will now be described by way of an example with reference to the accompanying drawings in which :- Figure 1 shows in perspective, the internal partition panel wall with each panel connected and fixed.
Figure 2 illustrates the composition of the light gauge steel frame panels in alignment but not connected or fixed.
Figure 3 illustrates the light gauge steel frame panels with each panel coated both sides with a building board, aligned in position but not connected or fixed.
Figure 4 illustrates the light gauge steel frame panels with each panel coated both sides with a building board and electric, communications, pjping and aerial sockets, switch, wiring, cabling and piping, in alignment but not connected or fixed.
Figure 5 illustrates an internal partition panel wall as described above and in figures 1 to 4 but shows an opening for an internal door and window, in alignment connected and fixed.
Referring to the drawing Fig. 2 the internal partition panel wall comprises light gauge steel panels of fixing stud 1, stud 2, top channel 3 and bottom channel 4, a picture and/or light fitting strip 5, radiator fixing strips 6 and an electrical and/or communications socket strip 7. Means of fixing each component, for example, is two rivets at each intersection or similar means (not shown). Fig. 3 shows each panel coated both sides with two building boards 8 secured by, for example, self-tapping

fixing screws (not shown). Fig. 3 demonstrates suitable cut-outs through the building board 8 and fixing strips 5,6 and 7 to allow the fixing of a plug socket 9, a communications socket 10, an aerial socket 11, heating pipe socket 12 and a light switch 13. Means of fixing each socket is in accordance with the manufacturers recommendations (not shown). Fig. 4 shows the electric plug socket 9 is attached with an electric wire 19, the communications socket is attached with a cable 18, the aerial socket is attached with a cable 17 and the light switch 13 is attached with a wire 15. The two heating pipe sockets 12 are attached with pipes 15. Means of connecting to each socket is in accordance with the manufacturers recommendations or good working practice (not shown). The choice of egress of each wire, cable or pipe from the panels is open to requirement.
Fig. 1 shows, starting at one end the first panel correctly positioned and fixed in place, means of fixing to a foreign body such as block work or another wall is by self tapping screws or similar means (not shown). This is carried out through the flanges of the fixing stud 1. A further two fixings are made, one up through the top channel 3 in the position indicated 20 into the ceiling and one directly below down through the bottom channel 4 into the floor. The next panel is positioned to the fixed panel and secured by self-tapping screws or similar means (not shown) in the suggested positions indicated 21. This panel is then fixed up through the top channel 3 in the position indicated 20 and directly below through the bottom channel 4. Each appropriate panel is fixed in the same manner until the internal partition panel wall is complete, the last panel again being fixed to the foreign body such as block work or another wall by means of self tapping screws or similar (not shown). Due to the potential tight nature of placement of the last panel within the constraints of existing walls this panel may be stick built for ease of build.
Claims (3)
- CLAIMS 1. An internal partition wall comprising of panels in the form of frames coated both sides with a board and electrical, electronic, communications, piping and aerial sockets and light switch secured through the board where appropriate, the frame and positioning of boards being adapted to slide into alignment with the preceding frame with means of securing the whole of the wall in a reasonably rigid form.
- 2. An internal partition wall as claimed in Claim 1 wherein fixing means on each end of the whole wall are provided for reasonably securing the wall to other walls.
- 3. An internal partition wall as claimed in Claims 1 & 2 wherein the composition of the respective consecutive frames are adapted for openings for a door and window Fig. 5.
