Abstract

A door chain assembly comprises a chain mounting C mounted on a door jamb, a chain mounted to the chain mounting and a chain retention slot A on the door. A sensor is provided to sense whether the chain is retained by the chain retention slot A. An alert device in the form of a loudspeaker B and/or LED indicators is arranged in the door to alert a user when the chain is not retained. Optionally, a bell push can be used to activate the sensor and the sensor is preferably arranged to additionally sense attempted removal of the chain from the chain retention slot A.

Description

<Desc/Clms Page number 1>
Wire free Radio frequency Emitting Door Security and locking mechanism This invention concerns a combined security chain, remote wire free (radio) or wired caller door chime and security lock mounted integrally within a door and doorframe.
Door security chains have been widely available for many years and normally take the form of a metal robust casing fixed to a door with a chain passing and attached to the adjacent doorframe, (jamb). Although fitted in a lot of cases, for people such as the elderly, infirm or just plain forgetful, these useful security devices are often left unattached and unsecured leaving the occupants vulnerable when answering the door.
Wire-free, (radio) door chimes have also become popular and widely available in recent years and take the form of wire-free (radio) door bell push sending a signal to a remote receiver module (radio receiver) that chimes upon activation warning the occupants of a caller. However they do not warn an occupant that their door in not secured and that they are vulnerable to any caller.
Door locks, cylinder type, lever type and dead bolt type etc. have been used since time immemorial to secure all kinds of access to property and articles and normally, when attached to external access doors take the form of these said types manufactured by such companies as Yale, Chubb etc. (trade names) that have multi combinations and lock in facilities. They do not however warn the occupants of the door being insecure or of the presence of a caller or prevent the door from opening fully or being forced open whilst being answered by the occupant.
According to the present invention there is provided a remote radio receiver unit with, LED visual warning, an audible voice type message system, an audible chime type tone or other sound, a panic attack sounder or any combination thereof and powered by either mains, batteries, or any combination thereof.
<Desc/Clms Page number 2>
A remote, (wire-free) or wire-able battery, solar powered or similar energy source type of radio frequency emitting bell push.
A door unit consisting of, a radio signal sender/receiver circuit board, magnetic circuit breaker, audible voice or other type of sound emitting circuit, an integral security chain retention slot, or any combination thereof mounted integrally within the body of the door.
A door post, (door jamb) unit consisting of a rotateable chain anchor fixing, security chain with magnetized locking head, chain retention/storage slot, magnetic circuit breaker, or any combination thereof mounted integrally within the body of the door frame, (door jamb) adjacent to the afore mentioned door unit.
The system is so structured as to give caller announcement by audible sound emission, such as a bell tone or other sound, an audible warning of a vocal nature, signal of announcement via visual means such as a flashing LED etc. or any combination thereof.
The system gives a caller chime notification as well as a vocal message warning and visual warning such as via LED's informing the occupant of such things as the door chain not in placement or to check the callers identity before removing the security chain, also the facility exists for a second tier of security via magnetic circuit breakers both on the security chain and within the door unit and door post unit reminding the occupant to be on guard before opening the door fully. The system also has the facility to provide a panic attack function via means of a siren or other audible means by activation from a remote radio signal emitter that can either be worn on the person of the occupant such as a pendant or wrist strap or be mounted in or near the area of the outer access door.

The invention can be better described by means of the following sketch diagrams; Sketch detail. 1. shows a typical make/break type bell push.
Sketch detail. 2. shows a remote radio receiver unit configured by example as a mains powered plug-in UK 3pin type with, speaker grill, volume control, LED indication lights and radio frequency band selection, (to prevent accidental activation by other similar devices).
Sketch detail. 3. shows an example of the invention aforementioned in location within a door body and door frame with; [A] being the security chain retention slot. [B] being a removable speaker grill for access to the battery compartment. [C] being a door frame mounted security chain anchor post. [D] being a door frame mounted security chain storage slot. [E] a door handle Sketch detail. 4. show a cutaway view revealing the main door unit body and door post, (door Jamb) unit body as fitted integrally within a typical door and door frame.
Sketch detail. 5. shows a simple sectioned view of the door unit and doorframe, (doorjamb) unit revealing; [F] a battery compartment. [G} a radio circuit board compartment. [H] a magnetic circuit component.
The invention is not confined to details of the foregoing example, and many variations, modifications and substitutions of functional equivalents are possible within the scope of the invention.
The invention further provides and includes a wire free radio frequency emitting door security and locking mechanism of said kind incorporating or comprising of any novel part, combination of parts, functional arrangement or feature, or any novel combination of parts, arrangements or features disclosed herein and in the accompanying drawings, of any functional equivalents thereof.

Claims (12)

  1. Claims :- 1.
