Abstract

The bottom of the suitcase would be equipped with a pressure activated weighing device 11. This component would be connected to a LCD screen positioned along the upper edge of the suitcase 12. The LCD screen would be equipped with an on/off switch and the display unit calibrated to indicate the weight. To utilize the device the suitcase would have to stand upright on its pressure sensitive legs 13. The display screen activation switch is engaged and the weight is indicated on the LCD screen. With this configuration, the suitcase with built in weighing mechanism would serve as a convenient device to use when preparing for a trip to assure that the weighing of the suitcase does not exceed the limits of the carrier on which one is traveling, thus for example, rather than facing the situation of arriving for check in on an airport only to find that one's suitcase is over the allowance weight limit.

EASYWEIGH This invention relates to a"Suitcase with a built-in-weighing mechanism." Suitcase is well known in the travel industry and is an essential part of ones needs while traveling. Suitcase is well into the maturity stage of the product life cycle, and has enjoyed fairly long stay in this phase and there is no indication that the basic needs for such product will disappear.
According to the present invention there is provided a suitcase with a built in weighing mechanism. This concept is a line of luggage with its own weighing mechanism and display screen incorporated into the suitcase.
To accomplish this the suitcase with a built in weighing mechanism would be configured as illustrated in Fig 1. The concept would entail the use of a conventional suitcase with the addition of the necessary components to include an on-board weighing mechanism and corresponding display screen to enable the user to determine the exact weight of the suitcase and its contents simply by monitoring the display unit.
Referring to the illustration (Fig 1) the bottom of the suitcase would be equipped with a pressure activated weighing device. This component would be connected to a LCD screen with a special conductive material. The unit would be equipped with an on/off switch and the display unit would be calibrated to indicate the weight of the suitcase and its contents in either pounds or kilograms.
Once the suitcase is stood upright on its legs the full weight of the suitcase and its contents is exerted against the bottom. The display screen activation switch would than be engaged and the weight of the suitcase and its contents is indicated on the screen.

Claims (6)

  1. CLAIMS 1. A suitcase comprising a built in weighing mechanism and display screen.
  2. 2. A suitcase with built in weighing mechanism as claimed in claim 1, in which the weighing mechanism is mounted at the bottom of the suitcase.
  3. 3. A suitcase with built in weighing mechanism as claimed in claim 2, in which a LCD screen is positioned along the upper edge of the suitcase.
  4. 4. A suitcase with built in weighing mechanism as claimed in claim 3, where the LCD screen is equipped with a multifunctional device, an on/off switch and a display unit, which could be calibrated to indicate the weight in pounds or kilograms.
  5. 5. A suitcase with built in weighing mechanism as claimed in claim 4, in which the bottom of the suitcase is fixed with a pressure sensitive legs and when the suitcase is stood upright on these legs the weight is registered on the LCD screen.
  6. 6. A suitcase with built in weighing mechanism substantially as described here in, with reference to Fig 1 of the accompanying drawings.
