Abstract

1308915 Luggage handles E KAY and D KAY 6 Oct 1970 [16 Oct 1969] 50860/69 Heading A4G [Also in Division G1] A handle for hand luggage such as a suitcase, holdall, or briefcase includes a spring balance weighing device. The carrying handle 13 has upward extensions 20, 21 to support the bridge 22 of a weighing handle 14 clear of its own bridge 19. The handle 14 has legs 23, 24 which extend into cylindrical recesses 25 in the legs 15, 16 of the carrying handle 13. A compression spring 27 in each recess is acted upon by a washer 29 on the end of the respective leg 23 or 24. The washers 29 carry pointers 31, 34 which extend through slots 26, 33 in the legs 16, 15 to scales 32a, 32. Alternatively, only one pointer and scale may be provided The spring 27 may be a metal coil spring or a rubber or other resilient block.
