Indicating action of ; pipes; materials, special. -In apparatus for drawing off beer &c. the beer passes through transparent pipes of n-shape extending above the counter. The pipes connecting the casks to the pumps or draw-off pipes consist of lengths of glass &c. pipes connected by junction-pieces of approximately U-shape, acting as swivels when removing the piping from one cask to another and as traps for the beer in case of breakage of the piping. The glass #-pipe b<1> Fig. 2, is inserted in the piping between the pump a and the draw-off nozzle e, and is mounted in the counter d by means of the rubber &c. sleeves c connecting the lengths of piping. The pipes b<1> of several pumps may be mounted in a common casing having glass sides, or each pipe b<1>, Fig. 3, may be enclosed in a glass cylinder #<1> secured by bolts between a cap #<2> and a base. d'. The junction-pieces i, Fig. 4, may be of simple U form connected by sleeves n to the downturned ends h<1> of the piping h, or the U may be formed with horizontal extensions. One or both the arms of the U-section may be inclined. The U-section may be formed integral with one of the lengths of piping. The suction pipe inserted in the cask is formed with perforations near the end and is closed at the end by a stopper of cork &c.
