Abstract

236,661. Gestetner, D. April 10, 1924. Stencilling. - In duplicating-machines of the type wherein a composite representation is produced by applying a number of inks in succession through a corresponding number of stencils, each stencil is mounted on a carrier comprising flexible metallic bands between which a sheet of gauze is secured, each carrier being mounted on non-absorbent inking cylinders associated with means for distributing an oily or greasy ink over the surfaces thereof. As shown, the machine consists of a series of duplicators of known type, each comprising a frame 2, supporting inking cylinders 3, waver roller 4, stencil-carrying bands 5, and impression roller 6, the cylinders being driven by chains 14 from a hand-crank 15. To adjust the alignment or register of the several impressions, the frames 2 may be capable of longitudinal, lateral, and angular adjustment. The machine may operate on sheets or a web, means being provided, in the case of a web, to take up the slack and to adjust the web for register.
