BACKGROUND OF THE INVENTION
FIELD OF THE INVENTION
S The present invention relates to a cellular telephone set having transmitter and receiver portions and, more particularly, to a cellular telephone set having a speech communication means using an earphone/microphone.
DESCRIPTION OF THE PRIOR ART
A conventional cellular telephone set that allows an earphone /microphone to be detachably connected to a jack on the cellular telephone set body as shown in Fig. 1 known. Referring to F-Ja. 1, an earphcne/microphcne 1 a connection cable 2 and a plug 3. The plug 3 is inserted into a jack 5 on a cellular telephone set body 4 to connect the earphone/microphone I to the cellular telephone set body 4. 'When the user puts the earphone vortion on his/her ear, and places the microphone portion at his/her mouth, he/she can perform speech communication without holding the cellular telephone set body 4 with his/her hand.
The user can perform speech communication through a transmitter portion 7 and receiver portion 6 inccrvorated in the cellular telephone set body 4 without using the earphone/microphone 1. When the cellular telephone set i c 2 body 4 is to be carried in a pocket, a bag, or the like, the plug 3 is disconnected from the jack 5 to separate the earphone/microphone 1 from the cellular telephone set body 4. This improves the convenience for storage and portability of the cellular telephone set.
As a cellular telephone set designed to improve the compactness and portability of the earphone/microphone 1, a cellular telephone set incorporating only a earphone/microphone without mounting a transmitter and receiver in the cellular telephone set body is also known (for example, Japanese Unexamined Patent Publication Nos. 3-258061 and 414323).
The above conventional celluia-- teler-hcne set with the detachable earphone/microphone allows the user to selectively use the transmitter and receiver incorporated in the cellular telephone set body or the earphone/microphone, as needed. In addition, since the eariphone/microphone and the cellular telephone set body can he separately stored, this cellular telephone set is convenient for storage. On the other hand, the cellular telephone set body and the earphone /microphone must be connected or disconnected on occasion. This operation is cumbersome. In addition, the earphone/micro- phone may be lost. That is, problems are posed in terms of operability and storage.
1 r_ When a cellular telephone set incorporating only an earphone /microphone receives an incoming call, the user must pull cut the earphone /microphone from the cellular telephone set body with one hand while holding the cellular telephone set body with the other hand. For this reason, the user cannot immediately answer the call, posing a problem in terms of operability.
Assume that the user is to perform speech communication by using the earphone/microphone of the above conventional cellular telephone set. In this case, the user must performs off-hook operation, e.g./ depressing the speech communication button, after inserting the plulg cl' the e-=rzhcne/m-icrc-ihone into the jack on the cellular telephone set body or pulling out the earphone /microphone from the cellular telephone set body. The number of operation steps is larger in this case than that in the case wherein speech communication is performed by using the transmitter and receiver portions of the cellular telephone set body, resulting in a deterioration in operability.
