Abstract

The level has a body comprising a number geometric shaped sections, connected together by rotating locking joints which in its extended position read levels in the horizontal and vertical, and can, by means of rotating one or more of the sections, read levels in one or more directions at the same time, including 90 degree angles, around comers and various obstacles and obstructions. The more geometric shapes that are added to the body of the level, increases the number of levels and angles that can be read at one time. With three or fou r sections to the main body of the level, it will always fold down to half its extended length for easy storage.

Description

1 2331582 This invention relates to a Multi Angle Spirit Level.
Splrit levels are well known for the measurement of horizontal and vertical lines. plus they can measure inclines with an added angle measuring device. They are in the most part inflexible. only measuring one direction at a time.
The present invention not only provides for all the above. but will give multi directional readings at 90 degrees to the horizontal or vertical. plus it will give readings around corners and obstacles. After use it folds away to half its extended length. thereby making it easier to store than a conventional spirit level.
The angled movements are achieved by incorporating one or more geometric shaped sections into its construction. the whole being connected by swivel and locking mechanisms. the combination of which Dermits the required movements.
With one geometric piece positioned at the centre. one end of the level can then be made to swivel to a maximum of 90 degrees to the horizontal. the level will still fold down to half its extended length. With two geometric shapes. inserted between the end pieces. more angles are DOSSible. including a double angle that will permit levels 2 to be taken around corners and other obstacles.
By having the geometric sections incorporated into the level. this invention greatly expands on the usage offered by a straight and rigid level. By being able to read two levels or more at the same time. it can for example. check both leans on upright posts and fences whilst being erected. it can accurately give both levels on paving stones and slabs when they are being laid, also it will check continuing levels around obstacles, such as doors. windows. vegetation and other obstructions.
The size in length. width and height of this invention can be made variable according to its manufactured need. it can be lengthened or shortened. simply by adding or subtracting eaual amounts from the end pieces. By this method it would still allow the device to fold into a boxed figure 6 attached. Small Docket sized versions can be produced by varying the overall shape and size of the component Darts in manufacture. It is also possible to create more angles by the addition of more zeometric nieces and main bodv Darts.

Claims (1)

  1. A Multi Angle Spirit Level. comprising of various geometric shaDes. each Diece connected to the next by a swivelling locking joint. The sections can be rotated to a number of various angled positions for measuring various angles. around corners and other obstructions.
    The Multi Angle SDirit Level. which by varvin-e the number of geometric shapes included in the construction. can have the sections rotated to give a varyin-e number of angles. which in turn allows a wider scoDe of usage.
    A Multi Angled Spirit Level as described in FiRs 1 - 16 on the accomDanying drawin?s on sheets numbered 1 of 9 through to 9 of 9 inclusive.
