Abstract

A container 1 for fluids comprises a container body having two ends spaced apart by a tubular wall 3, the wall being adapt to concertina by being corrugated, and at least one of said ends having an aperture through which fluid can be dispensed. Baffles may be provided to subdivide the interior of the container transversely or longitudinally into compartments each of which has its own dispensing aperture. The ends of the container may comprise lid members 2A screw threaded onto the wall (3), at least one lid member 2A having a spout with a sealing cap through which fluid may be dispensed. The container may be wire-reinforced.

Description

2331501 1 The present invention relates to a container for fluids.
According to the present invention there is provided a container for fluids comprising a container body having two ends spaced apart by a container wafl, said w" being adapted to concertina, at least one of said ends having an aperture through which fluid can be dispensed.
In one embodiment of the invention the container wall is substantially cylindrical.
In one embodiment of the invention both of said ends have an aperture through which fluid can be dispensed.
One or both ends of the container may comprise a lid which is mounted on the container wo. The fid may be screw threaded to engage with a corresponding thread on the container wall. The or each lid may include a spout with a sealing cap through which fluid can be dispensed.
The container may include a baffle across the container wall to divide the container into two separate chambers.
The container may be made from a flexible material such as a waxed card or paper or plastics.
2 The invention also extends to a container as above defined but with a container wall which does not concertina.
The invention will now be described with reference to the accompanying drawing in which: Figure 1 shows a perspective view of a container, and Figure 2 shows a perspective view of a lid.
Referring to the drawing, there is shown a container 1 for fluids. Container 1 has two ends 2A,213 which are connected to and spaced apart by a container wall in the form of a substantiafly cylindrical tube 3. Tube 3 is corrugated whereby it is adapted to concertina. Ends 2A,213 are screw-on lids which have an internal thread to engage with threads 4A,4B at either end of tube 3. The screw-on lids 2A,213 include a projecting spout 5 with an integral cap 6 connected to the spout 5 by a tie strip 7. As shown, the outer circumference of the lids 2A,213 may include a plurality of ribs in order that it may be gripped by the hand of the user more easily.
The container may be made from a flexible material such as a waxed card or paper or plastics, which may optionally be wire-reinforced. The material may be biodegradable or recyclable.
3 In use the container may be used to store fluids such as liquids like beverages. On filling the container, the container will expand to substantially its maximum volume. The user may drink the beverage from either end, or two users can simultaneously drink the beverage. If desired a baffle could be provided in the container tube to diVide the container into two separate compartments housing two doses of beverage, each accessible through one of the end spouts 5.
When the fluid has been dispensed fl-om the container, the container is concertinered together to occupy the least volume for disposal as waste. Alternatively the empty container may be used, by removing both end, as a megaphone or ear trumpet, e.g. for children.
Also if only part of the hquid, such as a beverage, has been consumed, the container can be concertinered together with the cap offthe spout to expel any air, and the cap can then be replaced to preserve the liquid. This aspect may also be useful if the fiquid is carbonated as it will preserve the carbonation of the hquid.
The container of the invention may be of any colour design and may be of different shape to that speffically described.
4 The container may be used to store fluids other than beverages, such as detergent, bleach, or other liquids, or indeed powders (included in the term fluid).
The invention also extends to a container as above defined but with a container waU which does not concertina, optionally with two ends through which fluids can be dispensed. Such a container could be made of glass.
The or each aperture through which fluid is dispensed could be different to that specificaIly shown. For example it could be an aperture with a hinged sealing lid.
Any baffle could divide the container along its longitudinal length into two separate compartments with the baffle extending between the two ends from one end to another, or the baffle could extend across the container wall normal to the longitudinal length, e.g midway between the two ends. With the baffle dividing the container along its longitudinal length, two apertures could be provided at one end to dispense fluid from each compartment of the container Further modifications will be apparent to those skilled in the art without departing from the scope of the present invention.
