Abstract
A display device for books comprises a framed box with closable doors. The interior is divided into compartments for individual books by a series of concertina-folded inner members (Figs 4,4a,4b) whose ends are received in recesses in the sides of the frame and cross struts (Figs 7,8) which are received in slots in these members and form sides of the compartments. Corner wedges die cut from and folded out from the inner members are glued to the cross members to retain the books.
Description
DISPLAY FOLDER BOX
This invention relates to a free standing upright display folder with a variable number of individual book receptacles.
There have been a number of display folders produced throughout the publishing industry which enable a set or group of books or linked merchandise to be presented in a display format which allows both dear display and easy access in use. These have, primarily involved pockets or balconies into which books are placed.
According to the present invention it is possible to create a much more substantial pack with free standing and book retaining qualities using a folded inner and support columns. This enables more complex and innovative display options to be achieved with considerable cost saving and, at the same time, retention of the overall pack strength and durability and easy access to product is retained.
A specific embodiment of the invention will now be described by way of example with reference to the accompanying drawing in which:
Figure 1 shows Front Elevation view of open standing folder
Figure 2 shows an exploded view of the retaining mechanism, die cut forward from concertina folded inner.
Figure 3 shows Top Elevation of open pack
Figure 4 shows Vertical section through open pack showing recess into which concertina folded tray element sits inside basic frame box.
Figure 4a shows vertical section through concertina folded inner being compressed to fit within frame box
Figure 4b shows vertical section through fully compressed concertina folded inner ready to be inserted into frame box.
Figure 5 shows a low level view of the folded concertina piece with vertical struts added to give side support
Figure 6 shows end view of concertina folded tray showing holes (as shaded) to accommodate slide in vertical struts
Figure 7 shows end view of folded struts
Figure 8 shows side-on impression of folded strut
Referring to the drawings the folder comprises of a free standing framed box with opening doors and a number of individually engineered recesses each with retaining corner wedges. Figure 1. shows the facing open product. The doors are hinged at either side to create a cupboard style opening for the entire library as is shown in the top view shown in Figure 3.
The retaining corner wedges are die cut from and folded out from the concertina inner piece and glued in place onto vertical struts (Fig 7 & 8).
The concertina inner includes die cut slots (shaded areas in Fig 6.) to accommodate a number of preformed struts (Fig 7 & 8) to be inserted into tray at intervals to provide sides of retaining compartments.
Figure 4, 4a. and 4b. show a vertical section through the project and clarify how a creased card inner is folded to fit within the outer frame box and provide the horizontal levels within this pack.
