Abstract

230,304. Babcock & Wilcox, Ltd., and Kemnal, Sir J. May 3, 1924. Safety valves.-A safety valve loaded by springs acting through toggle links has the valve member fitted with anti-scoring means. The valve member 1 has a main face 8 adapted to engage a seat 4 and a ported tubular part 6 adapted to co-operate with a corresponding sleeve 7 formed on the valve seat. The loading springs 9 are arranged on a rod 15 which has an eye 16 passing round the valve spindle, 10, between adjustable abutments 17, and bearing blocks 14. Toggle links 11 are arranged between these blocks and a fixed bridge 13 and links 12 between the same blocks and a collar 10<a> on the valve spindle. A forked casing lever 20 may also engage the collar 10<a>.
