Description

Adjustable Chair Description.
This invention relates to an adjustable chair.
Chairs are well known pieces of furniture which are used for sitting on. Special types of adjustable chairs are usually used where the chair needs to fit the person in cases such as disability.
Chairs for the disabled are, however, relatively expensive and are often bulky and uncomfortable.
According to the present invention there is provided a frame which consists of two triangles which are separated by a series of round bars and a cross bar at the base. There is also provided a seat which is easily attachable on to the bars, a foot rest which is attachable by the same way and a back rest which is also attachable. These attachments are easily removed and can be put at any height.
A specific embodiment of the invention will now be described by way of example with reference to the accompanying drawings, in which: Figure la shows an isometric drawing of the frame; Figure ib shows an isometric drawing of the seat attachment; Figure 1 c shows an isometric drawing of the foot rest attachment; Figure id shows an isometric drawing ofthe back attachment; Figure 2a shows plan, elevation and cross section of the frame; Figure 2b shows the frame with attachments; Figure 2c shows the seat in plan, elevation and cross section; Figure 2d shows the foot rest in plan, elevation and cross section; Figure 2e shows the back in elevation and cross section;; Referring to the drawings, the chair comprises of a triangular frame 10 which has twelve identical round bars all at even spacing 11, on to which a seat 12, foot rest 13 and back 14 can be placed.
There is one cross bar 15 which give additional strength.
The seat comprises of four supports 16 on which is fixed a surface 17. Similarly the foot rest comprises of three supports 18 on which rests another surface 19.
The back has two side panels 20 into which are fixed four back strips 21 which give support to the back.
In order to remove the seat and/or foot rest it is necessary to pull the end up so that the rest is vertical and then pull it out from the bars. In order to remove the back one must stand behind the chair and place a hand on either side of the back rest. One must than lift gently and at the same time push forward and the back will slide out.
To replace the attachments it is necessary to do the reverse of the previous procedures.
Thus the seat and/or foot rest must be turned horizontally and hook on to the bars before lowering the front so it is horizontal. To replace the back rest it is necessary to stand behind the chair and gently slide the rest down and at the same time pulling back until the rest is in place.
