Abstract

A temporary lintel is introduced into the wall by way of the horizontal mortar joint immediately above the head of the intended new opening which receives the supports 12 thus supporting the wall above the opening; leaving the working area below and around about free of encumbrance. <IMAGE>

Description

TEMPORARY LINTEL This invention relates to a temporary lintel.
In building construction openings in walls require a beam across the head to support the wall above, this beam is called a lintel.
When a new opening is to be formed in an existing wall of brick, masonry or like materials it also requires a lintel. To facilitate this it is common practice to introduce supporting pins through the wall, above the intended position of the lintel to take the weight of the wall immediately above while the opening is being made. These supporting pins are themselves then supported both sides of the wall by adjustable metal posts which invariably restrict the working area.
According to the present invention there is a temporary lintel comprising of a body, right angled in section adapted to form supports.
A specific embodiment of the invention will now be described by way of example with reference to the drawing in which: Figure 1 shows in perspective the temporary lintel.
Referring to the drawing the lintel comprises of a body 10 with supports 12.

Claims (2)

  1. A temporary lintel comprising of a material fashioned into a right angled section with supports all formed as one unit.
  2. 2 A temporary lintel substantially as described herein with reference to figure 1 of the accompanying drawing.
