Abstract

The Propless Lintel 10 is preformed to allow the top and bottom flange to enter the bed joint of the wall when raked out or cut with a masonary saw to a depth of one third or thereabouts of the brick. The bricks are drilled through the predrilled holes 12 to allow the Lintel 10 or Lintels 10 to be bolted 16 together on both sides of the wall allowing the brickwork to be cut away below the Lintel 10. The Lintels must extend at least 150mm past both sides of opening. It is envisaged the Lintel 10 will be made in various lengths, depths, and strengths. Expanded mesh is used to form a key to receive plaster. <IMAGE>

Description

THIS INVENTION RELATES TO A PROPLESS LINTEL.
Lintels are used to carry brick or blockwork over an opening in a wall, Example a Doorway or Window.
It is sometimes necessary to cut an opening in an existing wall or enlarge an existing opening, To do this requires Props and Needles to carry the weight of the wall when cutting out the existing Bricks or Blocks to allow a lintel to be fixed in position before cutting out the opening.
The Propless Lintel allowes when installed by means of bolts or and screws to cut out the opening without the need for Props and Needles.
A Specific Embodiment of the Invention will now be described by way of Example with reference to the accompanying Drawings in which, Figure 1. Shows the Lintel in position from the front view.
Figure 2.Shows end Elevation.
Figure 3.Shows end Elevation using Two Lintels.
Figure . Shows end Elevation using Two Lintels in position on a cavity wall.
Figure 5. Shows Bracket.
Figure 6. Shows Bracket in position used opposite Lintel.
Figure 7. Shows Brackets in position on wall.
Refering to Drawings The Lintel 10 is envisaged to be made of Galvanised Steel or simllarly treated Steel strong enough to carry the desired weight.
Prefromed to enter the raked out bed joints in the brickwork to one third or ther abouts, Bolted 14 or Pluged and Screwed 13 through predrilled holes 12 and prepared to receive plaster by way of expanded mesh 17.
Refering to Drawing 2.
An end Elevation showing the Lintel 10 used on one side only with either Expansion bolts or 18 drilled pluged and screwed 13 on a wall carrying very little weight.
Refering to Figure 3.
An end Elevation showing the Lintel 10 used on both sides of wall Bolted 14 together.
Refering to Figure 4.
An end Elevation showing the Lintel 10 in use on a cavity wall Bolted 14 together with spacers 15.
Refering to Figure 5.
Bracket 16 to be used in conjuction with Lintel 10.
Refering to figure 6.
An end Elevation showing Lintel 10 used in conjuction with Bracket 16, Refering to Figure 7.
Rear Elevation showing Brackets 16 used in conjuction with Lintel 10 Bolted 14 through predrilled holes.
