Locating leaks. - Relates to apparatus for testing joints 1 in a pipe line 2, 3 of the kind which comprises an expansible circular casing 4 adapted, when in use, to be inserted in the piping to be tested and to carry an india-rubber or other resilient band 6<1> having lateral lips 6 forming, in conjunction with the inner face of the piping, a closed annular chamber 7 in communication with a pressure gauge 8', means for expanding the casing so as to render the chamber 7 fluid-tight, and means for admitting fluid under pressure into said chamber for ascertaining from the pressure gauge whether or not there is leakage through the joint 1. The casing 4 consists in a split ring whose two ends 4<1>, 4<2> overlap or are tongued, and are each provided with lugs 18, 20, the two lugs being forced apart to expand said casing by ,an eccentric 19, mounted on the lug 18, and adapted to bear on the other lug 20. In modifications, the lugs are forced apart by an hydraulic ram or by a right- and left-hand screw bolt. The air &c. is admitted to the chamber 7 through an attachment 8 upon which the pressure gauge is mounted.
