Abstract

226,914. Dixon, W. B. July 28, 1924. Amusement apparatus for carrying passengers comprises a boat and means whereby pitching and rolling motions are imparted to the boat. The boat a is supported by a chassis d which may run on rails, as shown, or it may be mounted on road wheels or on wheels connected by an endless belt track when the device is to be used on a beach. Alternatively, the boat may be carried by a motor truck or a stationary framework. The boat is pivoted at its ends to a cradle c which is secured to an upright f that is pivoted to the chassis. The upright e is connected by a link r with an eccentric, or with a crank pin on a gear wheel, driven by the wheels of the chassis, so that the cradle is rocked as the device travels and a pitching motion is imparted to the boat. When the device is stationary, the cradle is rocked by a suitable motor. Two pillars u, secured to the chassis, engage the boat as it pitches and thusi impart to it a rolling motion.
