Abstract
A novelty soap comprises a cake of soap having embedded therein an inner container enclosing a toy or trinket, so that the inner container becomes accessible once the soap has been used up, whereupon the container may be opened and the toy or trinket retrieved. The container may incorporate an air-space large enough to ensure that the soap cake will float in water. In a further variant the inner container may contain a body of compressed sponge which will expand substantially on release from the container. Such a body may be shaped, and/or printed e.g. with matter of a decorative, entertainment, educational or advertising character.
Description
DESCRIPTION OF INVENTION
Title: 2'Improvements in or relating to soap"
THIS INVENTION relates to soap.
It is among the objects of the invention, in one of its aspects, to provide a soap package which will make the use of soap attractive to young children, or otherwise to provide a soap package having a novelty appeal.
It is another object of the invention, in another of its aspects, to provide a floating soap with an additional attractive feature.
According to one aspect of the invention, there is provided a package comprising an item enclosed in an inner container or wrapper and a body of soap surrounding said inner container or wrapper and the item therein.
According to another aspect of the invention, there is provided a package comprising an item of low mean density invested in a body of soap, such that the resultant product will float in water.
In one embodiment of the invention, a cake of soap is moulded around a sealed plastics container which contains, for example, a sweet, toy, charm or the like, so that the plastics container and its contents only become accessible to the user after the soap has been substantially removed by use. Peferably the free space within the plastics container, and/or the nature of the contents, are such that the mean density of the package comprising the soap, the container and the container's contents is less than that of water, so that the cake of soap will float in water, either from new or after use, over a period, has removed a certain amount of the soap.
It is, however, within the scope of the invention to provide a soap package comprising a non-soap item such as a token, toy or trinket, encased in soap, and which does not float in water. Likewise, it is possible that, with the sole purpose of making a floating cake of soap, such a cake might comprise an empty plastics shell or bladder encased in soap.
In a further variant, the inner container or wrapper may contain a body of high compressed natural or synthetic sponge, for example polyurethane sponge, which will expand substantially on release from the container or wrapper. Such body of sponge may be shaped and/or printed in any desired way, for example may take the form, when expanded, of a toy duck, fish or animal bearing appropriate markings, or may take the form of a block, cylinder or sphere, for example, printed with matter of a decorative, entertainment, educational or advertising character exposed to view when the body of sponge is in an expanded condition.
Soap cakes or packages embodying the invention may advantageously be marketed under some appealing and memorable name, such as "Soaprize" or "Soaprise".
Claims (4)
1. A package comprising an item enclosed in an inner container or wrapper and a body of soap surrounding said inner container or wrapper and the item therein.
2. A package according to claim 1 wherein the mean density of the part of the package including said inner container or wrapper and the space encompassed thereby and including said item, is low enough for the package as a whole to float in water.
3. A package comprising an item of low mean density invested in a body of soap, such that the resultant product will float in water.
4. Any novel feature or combination of features described herein.
